“As Honourary Chair of the 5th Annual Music For Life Fundraiser, I am proud to be involved with the Canadian Diabetes Association and the work it is doing to raise awareness.  Many of us are affected by Diabetes, either directly or indirectly. This fundraiser is an excellent way to help the more than 30,000 Surrey residents who have been diagnosed with the disease.” 

This Year's Emcee: Sandy Struss

She’s a woman with diabetes…and a microphone!  Sandy Struss has lived with Type I diabetes for 21 years, but she hasn’t let that slow her down.  She’s a familiar face in the diabetes community in Canada, having been involved as a diabetes advocate and motivational speaker known as “Champion-of-the-Underdog!” – bringing her own style of inspiration and enthusiasm to communities from coast to coast.  Last year, she was a part of Team One – a group of people with Type I diabetes who completed the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu in Peru to raise money and awareness for diabetes.  A champion of human potential, Sandy believes we each have the capacity to make a difference in the lives of others with the gifts we’ve been given – and she is honored to be your host for this year’s “Music for Life” event.
